1. Auction Preview - We invite you to visit our gallery during previews, held 1 day prior to each auction and on Auction day. During the preview, auction items are displayed attractively throughout the gallery. These exhibition days allow you plenty of time to closely examine items that interest you. And, if you wish, our knowledgeable staff is there to guide you through the vast selection of objects. 2. Damn Yankees Auctions website – www.damnyankeesauctions.com provides full catalogue descriptions, measurements, condition reports, along with numerous images of most lots. Our website also allows you to leave absentee bids. Make sure to read our terms of sale. We want you to know as much as possible about each item before you place a single bid 3. Auctionzip - www.auctionzip.com provides our buyers with convenient internet access to our catalogue with descriptions and multiple images. Most importantly, auctionzip gives you the opportunity to view our auction items and bid absentee from your office or anywhere in the world. Register Before you can participate in any of our sales, whether live, absentee or on the phone, you must accept our Terms and Conditions and register with Damn Yankees Auctions. How to Bid Once you have previewed the lots being offered, there are several ways in which to participate in our auctions. 1. Live Bidding - When you register at our reception desk the day of the sale, you will be issued a bidder’s card with which to signal your bid to the auctioneer. Each card has a unique bidder’s number. As the auctioneer calls for bids, simply raise your card when you are comfortable with the amount being requested by the auctioneer. In other words, if the price is right, put your card in the air. Then, if you are the winning bidder, hold your card up high so the auction clerk can record your bidder number. That’s all it takes. If you are the winning bidder, the auctioneer will close the item by saying "sold," the final hammer price and announce your bid number. Just as at every auction house, all sales are final. You cannot decide after the auction that you paid too much, or the item will not fit in the place you had in mind, and you now do not want the item. When the auctioneer says "sold" and recognizes you as the successful bidder, a legally binding contract has been established, and you are the new legal owner of the item, even though you have not yet paid for it. If, during the auction, you make a mistake or the auctioneer takes a bid by you in error, or the auctioneer sells an item to you for a price greater than what you intended to bid, you must say so immediately. This allows the auction house to correct the problem and immediately resell the item. Once an auction is over, there are no corrective measures for the situation and you are the legal owner of the item. 2. Absentee Bidding - If you will be unable to attend the auction, you can always complete an absentee bid form (available in our gallery or downloadable through our website). and of course on Auctionzip.com. We will bid for you, just as you would, competing against live bids, telephone bids, and other absentee bids, and any applicable reserves, with the intention of obtaining the item at the lowest possible bid price. In the event identical absentee bids are submitted, the earliest bid submitted will take precedence, so please submit your bid forms as early as possible. 3. Telephone Bidding - We will accept telephone bidding on certain lots. There is a limit to the number of telephones available, so please submit your bid forms as early as possible. Like absentee bids, telephone bids may not be implemented if submitted the day of sale. Telephone bidders complete the same form as absentee bidders and are recommended to leave a backup bid if we are unable to reach you during the auction. 4. Internet Bidding - In a partnership between Damn Yankees Auctions and Auctionzip, internet bidding is available through Auctionzip.com. Those internet bids compete against other absentee and live bids, telephone bids and applicable reserves. Auctionzip purchases will incur an online transaction fee in addition to the buyer’s premium and sales tax. Buyer's Premium and Sales Tax Damn Yankees Auctions does not own the property that we sell at auction; instead we host an auction as a venue to bring buyers and sellers together. When an item is sold, Damn Yankees receives a commission, a percentage of the hammer price paid by the consignor. We also collect a percentage of the hammer price from the buyer that we call a buyer's premium. A buyer's premium of 12% is added to your successful bid price for all purchases. Discounted to 10% if paying by cash or good checks. Please read the terms prior to each sale to determine the applicable buyer's premium. The hammer price and buyer's premium are treated as the total purchase price and, therefore, is subject to an 8% South Carolina State sales tax. Payment All buyers are required to submit payment, and then pick up their purchases within five business days after the end of the auction. Payment may be made by cash, Master card or Visa or discover credit card, wire transfer, certified check, or, with approval by our accounting department, checks made payable to Damn Yankees Auctions. Please note that payment by personal or business check may result in property not being released until funds clear our bank. Removal of Purchases Your purchases must be removed from our gallery within 5 business days after the end of the auction. Failure to remove your items within 5 business days after the end of the auction will incur a fee of $5.00 per day per item. |
